1. Flow
‘Flow... Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s phenomenology of...’
This book is inspired by Mihalyi Csikszentmihalyi’s phenomenology of flow, which occurs when we are fully immersed and in a euphoric state due to a happy medium of our skillset meeting a challenge.
The physicality of the publication uses methods that can aid communication through synthesthesia. (This uses more that one sense to situate the reader in a specific place and time during their one to one interaction with the book).
This 120mm x 200mm rectangular, hand stitched, 44 page book represents this movement in a physical form. It uses a series of pop-up, linework and cut-outs to help us follow the meaning and feeling of this creative subconcious motion. It uses a calming colour palette of different shades of blue
and white and follows a series of linework and paper engineering elements that guide us through the book.
